Dear EY2 parents,
Supervision of Students after Dismissal
At the end of the day when students are signed out by parents/nannies/drivers, etc., it is understandable that they may want to have some play time. If this is the case and you remain on school property after school, please take your children outside so that they may run/climb/jump around where it is safe to do so. Make sure that you see them and you can supervise them all the time! If they need to use toilet or drink water you need to go inside with them. Please help your child to follow the school rules also after school time. Thank you for your cooperation.
Happened this week:
Our literacy groups continue meeting 4 times a week. We have moved our meeting time to early morning time so it’s very important that we all are in time at school. During the week every group read or play literacy game with the teacher, practice letter writing with a teacher, play literacy games with ipad and read and write independently.
Students have started to practice their independent writing by making their own books and by writing mail to each other. It is fun to watch how these principled students learn and practice their new skills so willingly.
We continued our UOI Exploring Materials / Learning new vocabulary and new techniques
Our last group working with their own cardboard project added their final touches to their castle. Their lovely castle is ready to move in!
We continue exploring natural materials: In our classroom Ms Risa helped some students to finish their individual clay sculptures. It is always kind of a surprise what comes out of the clay even when you have made your plan.
Ms Aom has been helping at the paper mache center where students use the paper and paper mache paste to create different small objects like animals or food. Students can tear the paper and then watch how it change when you add wet paste. After you let the wet objects dry the paper mache objects change hard again and you can even paint it. Messy, fun and creative way to explore the every day material paper.
Ms Noi has been helping at our creative art center where students can use all different materials for making creative collage pictures. Students are drawing their pictures first and then adding different materials to their picture by using white or clear glue. We are just so proud of our students: they are using so many skills to create very unique art works
Ms Tuovi continued to help at the Makers’ Space where students were able to plan and create something from wood. The new place, new tools and new techniques can be even scary but our students are really great risk-takers and they are becoming open-minded to try new things willingly.
Thank you for coming to our EY sport day on Friday March 1st, 2019 and for supporting our young athletes doing their best on different events. What a fun day!
We also celebrated Rose’s birthday. Happy Birthday Dear Rose!
Thank you for those ones who already donated books for the Charity Club’s book drive! If you didn’t do it yet, please donate books and help EY2 to earn a pizza party for the most books! Books should be gently used, not torn or broken. This is an excellent time to clean out your bookshelves and give to those in need! All books and/or magazines welcomed. Drop off in the EY2 classroom.
