Last week, the EY2s began working on our book project, with each child authoring a page about positive changes that people can make to care for the natural world. Work on the book is ongoing this week and we hope to have it ready for publishing before the holidays.
The children showed care and empathy for animals in our newest dramatic play centre, a veterinary clinic. Here they also construct understandings of the communicative purpose of writing, as they role play making appointments and filling out forms for their pets.
To further connect with nature, the children planted some sunflower seeds a while back, getting some hands-on experience to help us understand how plants grow and where vegetables come from. We have been very excited to see that they have sprouted! The children will be taking responsibility for their care, as we learn about what plants need to thrive.
Thursday December 17th, 2020: EY2 Holiday Party – The party will take place at lunch time, and we are requesting that each family contribute a plate of food to share. A sign-up sheet will be posted outside the classroom this week. Unfortunately, we are not able to invite parents to the party this year due to social distancing measures. A limited number of parents will be allowed to attend as volunteers to help set up and serve food. Our KISPA rep will be in touch about this.
