House Spirit Day this Friday
This Friday 13th September, EY3 and Grade 1 students will join together for some sporty house activities from 8:00 am – 9:00 am. Please have the students wear their house shirts on Friday.

EY3 Field Trip – Thursday 17th October, 2019 to KidZania!
Next month we will be heading to KidZania for our first field trip this year. It is a great place for students to experience different community roles as well as explore their passions.
Thank you to Nate’s dad and Janvi’s dad for volunteering to accompany us on this trip.

Unit of Inquiry #1 – Who We Are
Thank you very much for your support in helping your children choose artifacts that represent their hobbies/passions. Every student now has one or more artifacts here in class and we are in the process of giving them opportunities to tell us about them through presentations and/or interviews with their peers and teachers.

Reading Buddies

This Friday we will meet with our Grade 10 Reading Buddies once again. We look forward to their second visit.

Writing (Handwriting)
Students have begun looking at letter formation and stroke order. We have begun with the ‘Frog Jump Capitals’: F E D P B R N M. When we write these letters, we start at the top, make a straight line down, then jump back up to the top where we started to complete the letter. See video below (no audio).

Kids A-Z
By now you would have all received information for your child’s Kids A-Z login and password information. Kids A-Z

If you are having any problems with this process or you have any questions or concerns, please send us an email to let us know.

Numeracy: Data Management in EY3
Students have been collecting and organizing data in their Daily Data Booklets and are beginning to make connections to patterns (line leader and lucky last), number (daily attendance, days in school), measurement (time/calendar/days of the week).

We have also been looking at different ways of organizing data. We took a survey asking the question, “When is your birthday?” and created a pictograph of the results. Students are learning what elements are necessary to make organized data easy to understand and interpret.

Please remember to return them on Friday morning. Thank you.

Please label all of your child’s belongings. Tuesdays are especially challenging with swimming and after-school activities. There are still many water bottles and items of clothing that don’t have names written on them. It really makes a big difference and would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Spare Clothes
We received a donation of KIS swim clothes and uniforms that one of our students has outgrown. Thank you very much to Ren’s mom for this. They have already come in handy.
