They had to include as much detail as they can.

  • Finger Spaces between words
  • Full stops/periods at the end of sentences.

The children continued to carry out the following.

  • Daily Data
  • Creating their own data surveys
  • Odds and Even activities
  • Halloween tallying and graphing activities

  • Retelling sequence of events
  • Making predictions
  • Reading strategies
  • Raz kids
  • How to Teach your monster to read

We read our third  Global Read Aloud book Nino Wrestles the World by Yuyi Morales. (Click on link to enjoy) Nino Wrestles the World. The children enjoyed learning about the Mexican world of wrestling called Lucha Libre and how it influenced Nino when playing during the story. This led on to discussions and explanations about what are the most popular games being played in the G1 community.

Exciting changes in Grade 1! A week ago we made predictions on what the cocoons would change into. This week they changed into moths. The children had time this week to reflect on their predictions and discuss how close they were. We also inquired to how could we have known whether they were going to be  moth or butterfly. Paying attention to the clues e.g types of cocoons and finding out about what are the differences between moths and butterflies.

G1 Moths

The children  started to reflect on some of the roles and responsibilities they found out about during their interviews.
