We have spent the last week or so finding out about the different habitats where natural systems can occur. At the moment, the students are busy learning about three different kinds of habitats in the various classrooms, which will help give them a solid foundation when we begin to explore the types of natural systems that exist and which factors can affect these systems.
On Tuesday, we had our field trip to Metro Forest. The students seemed to really enjoy walking around and exploring the little bit of forest that has been grown from a wasteland in the last five years. A number of students talked about how they would like to return with their families and/or friends. In math this week, the students have been exploring sorting and data handling. This week, we did an inquiry into the amount of trash created from our trip to Metro Forest, and then sorted it and used it to create graphs.
On Friday, the students explored coding and/or virtual reality with Mr. Eric.
Every Friday morning, G2B class visits our EY1 buddies and we explore their classroom with them, and read to them, and try to create an inclusive and caring community that can hopefully continue after this year.
