This past week, we continued our exploration into what the three different states of matter are, and what the characteristics are of each one. The students have begun to help guide our UOI as they learn more about the scientific method, and they have started to do their own experiments.
This is a huge step for our students. They are completely in charge of deciding which experiment they want to do that relates to states of matter. The students then bring in their supplies, explain to their classmates what they are doing and why, and then become risk-taking scientists as they do the experiment in front of everyone.
Here is just the first of many images of our students leading experiments.
In Language Arts, the students continue to read and analyze the different components of poetry. They also finished up their research about different scientists and shared with their class about what they had learned.
In Math, the students continued to explore different kinds of measurement. They will also begin getting into addition strategies this week.
This week’s learning engagements include:
UOI – Finding Out – How the states of matter change
Language Arts – Procedural Writing; Poetry
Math – Measuring
February 4-8 – 3-way conferences
February 13 – Primary School Sports Day
