Last week, we continued making conclusions about how our thinking has changed regarding States of Matter. Classes A and B had to rethink an earlier experiment that we did about making rock candy, and after analyzing our previous procedures, we followed the scientific process one more time and successfully made rock candy this time.
At the end of the week, we had International Mother Tongue Day. We spent some time discussing why it’s important to be able to speak and think in our native mother tongue, while learning other languages as well. We were also lucky to have Mia’s mother and one of our EY2 teachers volunteer to read storybooks to children in their native languages. It helped the students recognize that – sometimes – stories can be understood even if you don’t understand the language that it’s being told in.
