Last week, the students worked in groups as they went further to try and expand their thinking about our first line of inquiry, the interconnectedness of nature.
Working together, the students chose an animal to start with, and then used their research skills to determine its predators and prey, and then continued expanding the food web until it encompassed animals from almost every biome.
When they were finished, the students then drew the animals and labeled them as producers, decomposers, or consumers, and herbivores, carnivores, or omnivores.
This week, we will begin tuning into our second line of inquiry – Human Impact on Nature. The information that we delve into will be mostly dealing with how humans are hurting the Earth, but in the third line of inquiry, we will focus on what can we do to make things better.
As always, as we continue inquiring into our new unit, you can visit this page to find out more about our learning outcomes and to see how we create transdisciplinary integration.
