With the start of a new term, came the beginning of Grade 3’s new unit of inquiry:
Earth continuously changes due to natural forces which effects communities
The unit began with an exciting provocation. Following morning break, the children returned to the classroom to find something was happening. The tables had been moved and loud noises ringing throughout the room. There was much confusion and the children were instructed to get underneath classroom tables and into safe spaces. Following the earthquake, the children thought about what was happening and why is was happening. We were really impressed with the children’s ideas and understanding of the Earth’s structure along with their reasons behind what was making the earthquake happen.
Later in the week, the children carried out observations of how the Earth’s structure compared to that of an Egg with various layers of different properties. We are looking forward to now exploring how the Earth’s continuous movement affects what happens on the crust and to the world as we know it.
Please be reminded that the residential coffee morning takes place this Thursday morning 8:00 – 9:00 in the AP Room (2nd floor).
Homework will also be sent home today which you can now access via the side link.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the parents and families who made our Halloween event, last Friday, so memorable for the children.
Many thanks for your continued support.
