‘It’s a load of old rubbish!’

Last week was a very busy one in Grade 3 as we launched fully into our new unit of inquiry. The children did a great job collecting together waste materials from home and it was fascinating to see the range of materials which is thrown away on a regular basis. After classifying and sorting the materials, it was immediately clear that the most popular waste products are made from single use plastics. Following this, we next began to think of what we can do with these resources, other than put them back in the bin.

Through discussion, G3 decided to get creative and made amazing ‘trash monsters’ to spread awareness of the vast range of materials being discarded everyday. The children worked collaboratively across the classes to design and build a wonderful range of characters.

On Friday, it was Grade 3’s turn to lead the PYP assembly – it was a great opportunity for the children to share some of the learning taken place this year. We were super impressed with the level of commitment shown from our students throughout. Furthermore, a big thank you to those risk takers who confidently shared their own personal learning journey either from past units of inquiries or in gymnastics.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the parents that were able to join us, it was great to see so many of you there supporting.

Homework for this week can now be found in the homework page of this site. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

Ms. Jen, Mr. Matt & Ms. Tik
