Visitors from Greenpeace Thailand

G3 were lucky to receive a participatory workshop from Greenpeace to help tune them in to their new unit on Organisations. We learnt about why and how the NGO was founded and their key aims and mission. Then they focused on their current local campaign about reducing and refusing plastics.

Students enjoyed playing a Kahoot quiz to recap what the student already knew about the dangers facing our environment and a giant snakes n ladders game. They also carried out an activity to to sort plastics into their different types and then into those produced by different corporations. This was interesting as the students started to reflect on how companies, especially those which manufacturer packaging, have a responsibility to ensure we are keeping our environments and habitats clean and safe. The Greenpeace volunteers explained how they approach multi-nationals and large companies with data to make them aware of their practises and influence change.

Students were very reflective on the information shared during the workshop and made fascinating connections to their understanding from our previous sustainability unit. Furthermore, starting to explore how an organisation can be more effective when working together towards the same goal and mission.
