Term 2 Week 4

Week 4

How we express ourselves- Exhibition

Thank you to all of the parents who attended the meeting last week. The links to both Dr Puk’ slides is here and to Grade 5’s slides is here. Please if you have any questions or concerns please ask by email or drop by to see us.

Thank you also goes to our single subject teachers who wowed the students with their talk of their passions in last Thursday’s assembly. The variety of passions on show was really interesting and thought provoking for many of the students. Thanks to Khun Aey and Por, to Ms Lindsay, Ms Daisy, Ms Kirsten and to Mr Chris, Mr Ben and Mr Ed for sharing.

Most students have now chosen a passion to investigate and we have sorted groups for them to work in.They will soon be given a mentor to help them in their learning. This week the students will be writing the lines of  inquiry which will give direction to their inquiries and starting their research.

Maths

Comparing, ordering and identifying fractions will be our mathematical focus this week. Looking at real life situations for this, using both pictorial and manipulables to represent fraction to allow the students to really grasp an understanding of the concept of fractions.

Literacy

Our literacy this week will be closely linked to skills the students will need in the exhibition process. We will therefore be investigating how to find key information in a text, record this in a variety of ways and summarize texts.

Drama

Many of the Grade 5 students have been practicing hard for the performance of Going for gold. The set is now sorted as are the costumes and the songs are nearly ready. All it needs now is an audience so  we look forward to seeing you all in the auditorium at 12.15 on Friday on 31st January.
