The students spent last week finalising their ideas for their passions and writing lines of inquiry to direct their investigations. This week the students will use these to research their areas of interest and to generate inquiry questions. They will also meet with their volunteer mentors who come from across the primary school. Thank you to all of the mentors for giving up their valuable time to assist the students in their inquiries.
We are continuing our investigations into fractions, simplifying, adding and subtracting these and equating them to real life situations.
Finding key information, recording these in various ways and remembering always to cite our resources will be our main focus this week for literacy to link into our exhibition work. We will also be creating bibliographies to record the sources we have used and discussing the term plagiarism to ensure that none of the student will be guilty of this during their exhibition process.
Although we are all disappointed about the cancellation of the grade level residential, Grade 5 had the opportunity to discuss the Coronavirus at their assembly where the students asked some sensible questions and are now more informed about why the decision to cancel was taken. Procedures for washing hands were clarified. Simple precautionary measures were also discussed including the wearing of face masks.
