Students in G4&5 have been working really hard to improve their freestyle technique.. so we have given them a helping hand by filming them with a GoPro camera! Students have performed a dive, glide and freestyle action – then watched themselves back using the Seesaw application and commented on their own technique. They have also compared their technique with this time last year and seen how much they have improved! Watch this video of the incredible improvements Ananya, Yama and Arty have made since G3!

Students in G4 were fantastic teachers this week as they coached each other in order to try and improve their partners’ diving technique. They used kick boards to stretch and dive out over before straightening their bodies and going into the streamline position. Next week we will be using GoPro videos to look at improving our freestyle performances!

Students in PYP have had a great time this week using the new playground equipment and incorporating it into their PE lessons. Finding out about ourselves in our first unit – ‘Who we are’ – students have used the new apparatus to discover their own elements of physical fitness – Balance, Strength, Agility. They have been recording their times and levels in a series of initial fitness tests and will see how they progress and grow throughout the course of the year.
As you can see from the photos and videos, the students are loving experimenting with the new equipment and they will develop many skills from playing on it!

Following on from the success of the G3-5 KIS Badminton team at the recent AISAA tournament, PYP students had a chance to pair up with a friend and compete against children in other classes and grades for the PYP Badminton tournament. The tournament also coincided with the end of our ‘Net games’ unit of Inquiry where students compared badminton, tennis and volleyball before making links and transferring skills. The tournament was a great success with over 50 students competing over 2 days. The eventual winners were Good and Proud (Lulul and Bea runners-up) in the Girls section, and Phip and Gun (Pan and Paan runners-up) in the Boys event. Well done everybody!
KIS hosted its annual PYP Swim Gala last week, and again it didn’t disappoint! Students from G1-5 showed what swimming skills they have learned this year in lessons with a fantastic effort that demonstrated many of the IB learner profile attitudes such as enthusiasm, passion, commitment, cooperation and appreciation.
In the end, Hanuman won the Lower Grade event whilst Erawan came out on top in the Upper Grades. The real winners though were the students who put so much into the day for their teams – well done everybody!!
Last week was a super active day in the KIS calendar as the PYP community came together for the annual Sports Day! There was plenty of effort, determination, spirit and fun on show as all teams demonstrated their sporting skills over the course of the day. In Lower Grade School, Hanuman came out on top whilst Erawan took the spoils in G3-5. Well done all teams on a fantastic sporting day!
