On Friday 5th December, KIS took 2 teams of students to compete in the highly anticipated AISAA Primary Athletics Games at Berkeley International School. Against a highly competitive home team and also Concordian and Ekamai International Schools, KIS had to be at their very best to achieve any form of success.
Initially, the long distance track events were won by Berkeley but then KIS started clawing back momentum with wins from Alex and Namo in both throwing events and the triple jump from Proud and Pim Pim. In the middle distance and shorter events, KIS exploded into life with some superb running from all our athletes, notably Ciara and our G2 superstars – brothers and sisters Bew Bew and Rew Rew!
The competition went right down to the very end and a nail-biting finale saw our relay teams win 3 out of 4 races to be crowned both G5&U and G3&U champions for a second successive year! Well done everybody!!!
During the last few weeks, students from G1-5 have been assessing their swimming performances with the aid of technology! Students have been filmed performing their freestyle technique underwater with Go Pro’s and then, after having their videos uploaded to Seesaw, they have worked with a partner to review their own and their friends’ performances and given feedback. This has been a great tool in helping the students strive for understanding on how to improve their stroke and has been fun to see each other underwater!
Bujji in G3 show amazing diving technique before gliding into freestyle!
Students in Mr. Zac’s G4 class give great feedback to their peers!
This week in PE students have been working as a team to try and overcome challenges and solve problems, including this activity below – ‘the Human fishing rod’! Students have loved this challenge and have shown great teamwork, communication and problem solving to try and complete this challenge. It has also tied in with the G4 UOI of ‘Forces’ in order to use the student who is the fishing rod as a lever and bring them back to shore!
First week back after the Half-term break and the students are beginning their new unit of Adventure Challenge in PE. We will be looking at the concept of working as a team to solve problems and overcome challenges. Here are a few photos from this week!
Wow! What a great day of sport at KIS! Last Friday (5th October). PYP at KIS hosted its first House sports tournament of the year with Ball Games being the focus of the activities.
EY-G1 started the day with some fabulous little games and relays which involved motor skills and ball control. After break G2&3 took centre stage with team Benchball which resulted in an epic finale with 3 teams joint first! Lastly, students from G4&5 contested an exhilarating Handball tournament with Erawan winning the Girls events and Tosakan winning both Boys events.
All students showed fantastic determination, commitment and enthusiasm for their teams as well as cheering their hearts out supporting each other! All teachers were immensely proud of their efforts:) We now look forward to the next house sports event after Christmas!
