What an exciting week it has been!
We had a lot of fun welcoming our Group 1 and Group 2 students to campus and to actually play in our EY1 Classroom!! Many friends were familiar with many of our songs and routines. They especially loved seeing photos of themselves and of their friends from the past months of activities on Seesaw.

This Week’s Learning & Fun

This week, our focus was on supporting the children’s transition to in-person learning two days a week in our hybrid learning model. The children practiced some familiar routines and songs as well as learned some new ones. They especially enjoyed playing on the playground and interacting with classmates they’ve only seen online. All the children were incredibly brave and embraced the IB Learning Profile, Risk Taker, to try new things and meet new friends. Group 1 joined us on Monday and Tuesday.

We welcomed Group 2 students on Thursday and Friday. They were more than ecstatic to set foot in the EY1 Classroom! As teachers, being able to see their smiles and experience their energy in person were the magic we’ve been missing during these past months of remote learning.

We continued to have our specialist classes – PE, Music, Art and Library – throughout the week, some while in person and some during the remote learning portion of the week. We also had our FIRST WACKY WEDNESDAY call on Wednesday when we were all learning remotely. Ninja friends helped us with our daily check-ins all week, so during this call we got to learn more about what ninjas wear and read a story about a bunny who wants to be a ninja (link: Ninja Bunny by Jennifer Gray Olson).

Did you know that your EY1 student is very capable? When we allow them to do things that they can do for themselves, we are giving them the message, “Hey! You can do it. I believe in you.” You are also giving them opportunities to develop skills and self-confidence! Some things that our EY1 students can do include:
- Carry their own backpack 👍
- Walk to class and walk to car by themselves (they DON’T need to be carried) 👍
- Carry and hold their own water bottles 👍
As always, our school counselor, Ms. Alex, also has many wonderful resources on her Counselor’s Blog to support parents. The most recent are some wonderful resources and research on the importance of play.

Thank you for continued support! It’s an exciting and tiring week for all with all the new experiences we’ve had. All the children were great with all of our safety measures, especially wearing their masks all day and frequently handwashing. Have a wonderful and restful weekend! We look forward to seeing you again next week.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please email us at dinnhe.kr@kis.ac.th or sian.py@kis.ac.th.
