Week 15: Nov. 22nd – 26th

Our EY1 children continue to adjust the hybrid schedule. Whether learning in person or remotely, the children check in each day. The friends helping us with our check ins this week are the ROBOTS!

The children have really loved being able to socialize and play with each other when they are at school. While some are still struggling with separation from families, they often bounce right back and engage in our various activities, being so brave to make the best of their time at school.

Learning about the days of the week and how many days they are school as well as our schedule for the day have helped many children to manage their emotions of missing home.

We continued to have our specialist classes – PE. Music and Storytime throughout the week, some while in person and some during the remote learning portion of the week. The children also enjoyed the Library Time in the classroom where they got to choose the book they wanted to borrow for the week. We love our WACKY WEDNESDAY calls on Wednesdays when we are all learning remotely. Here are the links from this week’s call if they would like to listen to the story or dance like a robot again.

Don-t-compare-your-life-to-others-331235

This quote is a nice reminder and it applies to how we view our children as well. Please don’t compare your child to another, whether it’s with a sibling or another child! Our children will shine in their own time, just like our Sun and Moon. As you know well, our children are all unique and special in their own ways, with their own gifts and struggles. Some struggles might end up being gifts and vice versa where some gifts may turn out to be their struggles later on. It’s all part of our journey of learning and growing. The best we can do is as parents is to honour our children for who they are and where they are at the moment. (Please note that this doesn’t mean that you should give them whatever they want. They still need boundaries and our guidance to help them grow into healthy and happy beings.) This article, 6 Ways to Stop Comparing Your Kid to Others, has some good tips on what to do as parents.

NEW on the Counselor’s Blog this week is information about the Virtual Parent Book Club 2021 that will be run by Ms. Alex. See link for more information.

Have a wonderful and restful weekend! We look forward to seeing you again next week.

EY1 Team 😀
