This week’s check-in activity challenged the students to draw on their Christmas Tree to show how they are feeling. Students were creative, both in how much details they wanted to share as well as the reasons explaining why they were feeling what they’re feeling.

One of the other things we focused on this week was learning about what it means to be kind and what it looks like when we practice kindness with each other. See below for links to the stories we shared with the students this week.

The slideshows below show the various activities the children engaged in this past week. They explored, interacted with each other, collaborated, communicated and so much more – all while they were playing!

Children continued to be active in our specialist classes – PE, Music, Art and Storytime. On our WACKY WEDNESDAY call this week, we listened to a story about a Christmas Tree who did not want to be just a Christmas tree. Then, as a class, we decorated our EY1 Christmas Tree together online. The children practiced waiting for their turns as well as their listening and speaking skills to describe what decorations they would like to add to the tree. Here’s the link to the story in case the children would like to listen to the story again: Oh, Christmas Tree by Sue Hendra & Paul Linnet.

7 Types of Rest
Link to Article: 7 Types of Rest Every Person Needs by Saundra Dalton-Smith

We still have a week of school left until the end of this term and then it’s our three weeks break. It’s not too early to think about REST. We often plan for activities. But it is just as important that we plan for REST also. Over the holiday break, have a plan with your child about the rest they need. Rest is not something we can just do in one day. It takes time for our body to recuperate. It is very much like charging our phone batteries. It cannot be done in an instance, but over a period of time. As you have already seen, by the children’s second day of on-campus learning, the children were tired. With plenty of rest built up, the children will be more likely to have successful days at school and better equipped to learn. Good habits start now!

Have a wonderful and restful weekend! We look forward to seeing you again next week for our last week of Term 1..

EY1 Team 😀
