Week 18: December 12th – 17th

Dear EY1 community,

Congratulations on completing your first Term at KIS. It may not have been the experience we had hoped for but we have made the best of it! We really appreciate that you all kept an open mind and a positive attitude during these challenging times of remote learning and the hybrid model this term.

Many families took part in the Annual Christmas Giving Tree tradition either by sending in donations for under the tree with their children or donations online via the QR code. We thank you for your generosity. Please continue to have conversations about how lucky we are and how even our smallest actions can make a big difference.

Happy Birthday to Grace and Vicky who turned 4 years old this week!! Thank you for celebrating your special day with us and we hope you had lots of fun!

Thank you to all of our EY1 friends and families for providing such delicious treats for our end-of-term holiday party. The children looked amazing in their special party clothes showcasing their individuality and personal style.

We had our last specialists classes for the term with our good friends, Mr Max and Mr Chris. As always, we had lots of fun together. Our WACKY WEDNESDAY call on Wednesday was all about SNOWMAN this week. We learned a new song, listened to a story and engaged in a guided drawing activity. The children were encouraged to draw a snowman on their whiteboards. We reflected and made connections to the story while also revisiting our knowledge or shapes and sizes. Here’s the link to the story and song in case the children would like to listen again:

Important Dates – Looking ahead

  • Dec. 20th  –  Jan. 7th – December Break – NO SCHOOL
  • Jan. 10th  –  First Day of Term 2

Information on the Start of Term 2

Next term, our start and finishing times will be different than what they are currently. Our daily schedule for EY1 will begin at 7:50am and end at 12:20pm. It will be a big change for the children and it would be great if you could help prepare them for this. Having adequate rest can help them to be more resilient at school and have more enjoyable school days. We strongly suggest that families begin to adjust their bedtime and morning routines now and especially during the break. Practising getting up and allowing enough time to prepare for school and to arrive at school on time.

Staggered Start Monday Jan 10th & Tuesday Jan 11th

Ms June will be sending out information over the break in regards to staggered start groups for the first two days of school next term.

To all the parents who have spent time supporting your child for the past few months, THANK YOU!! We understand and appreciate what a challenge it must’ve been to have to take on multiple roles with your children. Here’s to a nice break ahead. You deserve it. Both Parents and Children!

Happy Holidays!
