Last week, we continued to support the children in recording their strengths and learning goals, to be discussed at our conferences this week. This was a great opportunity for self reflection, as well as purposeful writing practice. We have enjoyed meeting with many of you already on Zoom, and look forward to seeing the rest of you throughout the week!
The children continued to explore various materials at centre time, inquiring into the properties of materials as they build and experiment to discover which materials are best suited for particular purposes.
Some groups began drawing blueprints for collaborative metal construction projects, which are still ongoing.
At the water table, children have been predicting which objects will sink or float, and then testing out their predictions. They are discussing their theories about why certain objects sink while others float, and thinking about whether this is connected to material, shape, weight, size, or other factors.
This week, we are continuing to work on designing and making our metal structures in between the ongoing conferences! The building area with mixed materials is still open for exploration, and our floating experiments continue as well.
