Term 1 Week 9 4th- 8th October
Parent Helpdesk
Due to a low need for the weekly parent help desk on Monday we will suspend the meetings until there are changes to our learning environment. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your classroom teacher directly.
Passion Time & Story Time Changes
Passion time will now be scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday at 1.45pm
Storytime will be on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 2.15pm
Inquiry
This week students will continue to tune into ‘The Natural World’. They will be sourcing Artifacts, identifying areas of interest and asked to pose questions that will support us to explore student areas of interest.
Maths
We will continue to explore measurement using inquiry, by asking questions, observing and sharing the children’s own ideas about how to measure in a way of their choice. We will also explore subtraction, as well as using addition and subtraction to solve problems. We are encouraging students to be risk-takers and share thinking and ideas and explain rather than be correct.
Language
In reading we will be looking at finding facts in our reading and in writing continuing to look at fact and fiction. This concept of facts and fiction can be very difficult sometimes as there are often ‘grey’ areas. We have introduced Literacy Planet to offer additional learning opportunities in language development.

This week in G1
We are tuning into our new unit about observing change in the natural world by thinking baout what the natural world is. That was the initial quesiton for this unit about how the world works. On Thursday we went looked around our homes to see where the natural world is visible.
We wrote our non fiction factual writing this week and started to create an introduction page. Here is a very small sample of our writing.
In maths we were inquiring into what measurement is and collecting artifacts around our houses. Here is one post that shows this:
It has been a fulfilling week in which we have seen our students asks questions, take risks in developing their own learning by theorising what they think they understand and thinking about thinking.
We are proud of our community’s commitment to each other to grow and change together. We thank our families for their continual support and flexibility.
Have a wonderful weekend.
