Our first week back was filled with tons of fun and learning as the students showed us that they really did learn a lot while doing remote learning at home.
Thank you, parents, for all of your hard work!!!
This week, we continued to sort out what we knew about telling time, and – for many students – going further and working on problems about time duration. We also reviewed what we had learned about fractions and inquired into what fractions truly represent.
In language, we focused on writing dialogue and tried to connect it to our UOI (writing dialogues for our puppet shows about home learning) and to math (writing dialogues about time duration problems). Most of the students have a strong understanding of where and how to use quotation marks correctly, but we are still finding out how to use commas while writing.
For our UOI, we continued to learn about what it means to be balanced. We learned about different kinds of exercise and groups designed their own exercise program and led the rest of the class in different activities. We also learned about yoga and the importance of staying hydrated.
Next week, we will be focusing on mental and emotional health, as well as subtraction strategies and a final assessment of fractions and telling time.
Overall, it was a great week and I think all of us were very happy to be back!
