This past week was an exciting week where we continued finding out more about the states of matter using scientific investigation, and ended with a visit to the Grade 5 exhibitions, where many of our students asked insightful questions and seemed inspired by some of the projects that they saw.
We did a couple of inquiries that helped the students understand better about how the molecules react in the different states of matter. This led to a number of student questions that will inform our scientific investigations over the next couple of weeks.
In Math, we continued to go further with our understanding of the measurement of length, and learned to estimate how long things were based on the inquiries that we had done previously.
In Language Arts, we are going further with our procedural writing and using it often as we plan out and take notes on our experiments using the scientific method. The students seem to be developing a strong foundational understanding of how to write and explain procedures and we have been excited by their progress.
The Parent-Teacher conferences seemed to go really well, and there was a lot of positive discussions about how we can best help each student moving forward for the rest of the year.
Here are some photos from the past week.
