The Week Ahead

Please find the planner for Week 13– November 8 – 12  – at this link.

Language –Students will  continue to build on  their  skills of summarising, text, articles, news, vidoes. By identifying the key events and how they can be reworded using carefully chosen words to keep the sentences succinct.
Students will explore:
> What are the main ideas?
> What are the crucial details necessary for supporting the ideas?
> What information is irrelevant or unnecessary?
> Have them use keywords or phrases to identify the main points from the text.

Math – This week we will revisit the different known methods/strategies we have explored for addition subtraction. Students will also be introduced to word problems. They will have the task of finding key information, such as what is  the number sentence?  And be introduced to the systematic method ‘CUBES’ when approaching mathematical word problems: original-1956315-1

UOI – This week we are very excited to start diving into our new Unit of Inquiry, last week we revisited what it means to organise ourselves (verb) and went on to make connections to what an organisation (noun) is. Students came up with a wonderful range of different ideas about various organisations and began to sort these into different types of organisations.

Next week we will be taking a step back to look at our central idea Mission statements provide a shared goal for organisations to strive towards’ and how organisations use a mission statement to drive their actions and decision making.

Reading – We will begin our new reading groups next week. Students will continue to participate in 2 live reading sessions a week. For those students in Group 1 & 2, these will take place in school during the days they are on campus and for Group 3, these will happen online, with a teacher, twice over the course of the week.

Here you can find both the remote learning and the in class learning schedules that we will be starting from Monday.
