Grade 5 was abuzz last week with students attending mentor meetings, meeting with Ms Cassie to plot their aproaches to learning skills, working with Mr Eric on the technical aspects of the exhibition and of course working on the expectations of their exhibition as well as their usual specialist sessions. The exhibition process encourages the students to be creative risk takers, to manage their time well and to collaborate. So far the majority of the students are taking this very seriously and are steaming ahead.

This week the students will have the opportunity of creating their exhibition art piece on Wednesday when they will be given the day to do this. They therefore need to be organised with all of their resources ready to start on Wednesday morning. We are looking forward to seeing the wide variety of artwork they produce!

Is fully contained within the Exhibiton process with students researching  data facts to use in their graphs about their chosen SDG.

Literacy is now embedded in the exhibition process, the students have been writing their own chosen text type to explain their issue to others incoporating their research into this.

Reading groups will continue as should reading at home. The students are also being encouraged to be aware of current affairs and to read and take note of any articles they can find which are connected to their exhibition inquiries.

ICT meeting

Thank you to all of you who have sent your children to school with their laptops. If anyone else would like to or who needs more information on this please follow the link above and fill in the required form to  accompany the laptop when it comes into school.

Grade 5 Parent Conferences

These conferences will now take place after the Grade 5 exhibition due to take place on 10th, 11th March so that teachers and students can reflect on this process. At this moment, due to Covid restrictions, the exhibitions for parents will take place online but it is hoped that the students will still be able to present face to face to other year groups.

The students will have a holiday on Thursday  25th and Friday 26th February ,this week. We have suggested to them that this is a great opportunity to catch up on any outstanding exhibition tasks and to take action, as summary videos will begin next week.

We are still striving to stay safe so we  need to follow the guidelines below, please encourage your child to remember and take action on these important safety protocols.

  1. Masks will be worn at all times apart from when eating or drinking. This includes P.E lessons and when playing on the playground, including football.  Any child not wearing their mask properly after several warnings will be isolated, at playtimes and in the classroom, to avoid them creating a risk to others.
  2. Social distancing will happen.  Danger zones- include walking too closely on the stairs or using the incorrect stairway.
  3. Frequent hand sanitizing will take place. Sharing of equipment will be avoided but any which is shared will be cleaned between use. Parents, please sanitize your hands when picking up your child at the end of the day.
  4. Swimming will not happen for the first few weeks an extra P.E session will take its place.

Thank you for your continued support. We hope you stay safe and healthy.
