A ruler for a day

Last week, Grade 5 experienced what it was like to be in a country which had an absolute monarch governing it. They  were not all in favour and in at least one class a rebellion occured. They investigated both the advantages and disadvantages of this type of governance and having lived through the experience have a better understanding of what this could be like. Please ask them to explain this to you.

This week they will be inquiring into the pros and cons of democracy and seeing how it feels to be part of this government system.

Grade 5 Parent Conferences

These will take place  via  the zoom link

30th March – G5A

31st March- G5B

1st April – G5C

Please discuss your child’s goals with them and have them available to refer to at the meeting along with any questions that you have. The meetings will be a maximum of 15 minutes long to allow for a smooth transition from one meeting to another. We will attempt to keep on time so please be punctual to meetings. We look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s learning.

Measurement using different standard units including those used for length, capacity and weight is our current Mathmatical focus, converting from one unit to another. Problem solving using real life contexts which are based upon measurement  will also be a feature of the learning this week, including using our skills to create structures.

This is linked to our unit and will feature an investigation into rules and policies.

Swimming will now take place weekly. Pease remind the students to bring the necessary equipment. For more information see the letter here.

Thank you for your continued support.
